Next up on Fairy Tale Friday...illustrations from The Flying Trunk by Hans Christian Andersen. I love the Danish name-Den flyvende Kuffert. Basically, it's Andersen's version of the Arabic flying carpet tale.

Poor man flies away in a trunk, meets Middle Eastern princess by flying to see her where she's locked in her tower, they get engaged because in-laws think his flying trunk is so awesome, whilst setting off celebratory fire works he accidentally sets fire to trunk, woe is them.
