I get together once a year with some old friends from college. Two of them are professors, so we meet during their spring break. We try to do something different each year, and this time we met up at Lakewood, a neighborhood in Dallas by White Rock Lake.
If anyone is looking for a rental in the Dallas area, I highly recommend this place. It's a 2 bedroom house near the lake, and the owner, Bridget, is fabulous. You can contact me for her email address if you need it.
White Rock Lake has walking/jogging/biking trails. The photo above is of the Bathhouse Cultural Center. They have a theater, and a nice rotation in their art gallery. The lake is lovely, and the house-peeping is fun. There are some amazing homes overlooking the lake and in the surrounding area. We enjoyed just gawking at the architecture.
The boathouse was build at the same time as the Bathhouse. I love those Art Deco lines.
White Rock Lake is supposedly home to the infamous 'Goat Man'.
(info from Weird US:) Stories abound that while picnicking on the banks of the lake during the dusk hours, a creature of half man, half goat appears out of the woods throwing trash and even tires at the visitors in attempts to drive them away.

It is described as a very large creature about 7 feet tall with the horns and hooves of a goat, but standing erect. The body and legs are that of man and the face is human-like. His skin has a jaundice appearance that is almost greenish and he has long gnarled fingers with grotesque fingernails.
We were, of course, terribly disappointed that we didn't see the Goat Man.
Looks like you girls had fun!
I dream of living in a house like the first picture -- uncluttered and modern and easy to keep clean. My sister lives like that. No matter how hard I try, I have too many Hello Kitty things and too many Blessed Mother things, and stuff that makes me laugh... and ALWAYS too many books. Sigh.
