All I wanted to do this weekend was cook. And eat.
I used the recipe from the back of the Libby's can. Good GRIEF---how can you screw up a pumpkin pie? It just tasted too.....eggy, maybe. And I left an ugly finger print in it. And I made pretty dough leaves then ruined them by being sloppy with the cinnamon. So ashamed.
There's always a bit too much pumpkin, so I like to make Country Living's Pumpkin Waffle recipe. And then, of course, I had to make eggs and bacon. And smother the waffles in whipped cream and syrup and walnuts. Have I mentioned how much I like to eat?
Which reminds me....I finally saw Julie and Julia. Here's the preview. It was pure fluff, but what do you expect from Nora Ephron? It was like a slice of lemon meringue pie on a spring afternoon---light and puffy and silly and just right.
Meryl Streep is just DIVINE. Playing Julia Child----sheesh! What a task. Her portrayal is brilliant. She manages everything from the iconic voice to seeming like a 6 foot tall Amazonian chef without slipping into a caricature for a second. It's a beautiful characterization without being an impersonation.
What a sweet couple of quirky lovebirds.
And Stanley Tucci is adorable as her husband Paul. More Meryl! MORE MERYL!!!!
You can't even imagine how giddy it makes me to see the Valentine's Day card in real true life. I LOVED this movie....
