Hot diggity dog! I have received a Friendship Award. I've never gotten one of those before! It was bestowed on me by the lovely Sally from Sallyacious.
Thank you, Sally! I was just telling her how she is like the Internet Fairy to me. She's always vaguely out there in the ether, and it's so nice to see a Sally-letter show up in my mailbox or comments. One of the things I love the most about the internet is how it allows you to meet all those neat sorts of people that never would have crossed your path pre-computer-days.
(Yes, I DID insert a shameful 'cute kitties' photos. How unlike me. I feel vaguely dirty, like I should go wash the saccharine off my hands.)
There are four questions I need to answer to go along with the award.
1. Do you have the same friends since childhood?
No! Not really any at all. I moved several times between elementary and high school. Almost all of my friends are dear ones made at college.
2. What do you value most about your friends?
Having a shared sense of the past. I love it when you get together with people you haven't seen in forever and they still feel as comfy and warm as your favorite old sweater. Really good friends feel effortless and soft and don't require entertaining. They're happy to just BE with you! That's a great feeling, isn't it?
3. Are your friends your sounding boards?
A few of them. I talk to different friends about different things. They all seem to have a 'specialty', be it mothering, literature, great consumers of beer, or great taste in shoes.
4. What is your favorite activity to share with your friends?
Eating. Drinking wine. Sitting around a table for hours on end and talking.
