It's finally here....perhaps the best day of the year! (Christmas comes pretty close. No costumes, though.)
This is a short film from 1922 featured "Danse Macabre".
My husband refers to this as the "Halloween Song". I didn't know what he was talkingabout at first. Apparently, in elementary school, his class would sing a version of this Saint-Saeans piece that spelled out "H-A-double L-O-W-double-E-N-spells Halloween". Did anyone else grow up singing that song?
If I were still in Austin, I wouldn't be missing "The White Ghost Shivers Ball"---what spooky goodness! I love the White Ghost Shivers.....they remind me a lot of Squirrel Nut Zippers. Someone once described them this way: "Imagine a smorgasbord of Cab Calloway, circus sideshow, KISS< caberet, Hee Haw, and Robert Johnson served up at Andy Kaufman's bat-mitzvah." Hear.a clip of their music here.
A bit of hokey Victorian fun..."How to Hypnotize". This parlor amusement of yesteryear can be found over at Victorian Halloween. You are getting very sleepy!!
Due to pregnancy things, I'm "on the bench" for Halloween this year. So, my sweet husband surprised me with a perfect pumpkin yesterday for carving. To me, that's better than a dozen roses!! Thanks, honey!!!
Want to carve your own Virtual Pumpkin? This is a great time-waster if your heart just isn't into work today. I'm guessing this won't be the most productive Friday in history, yes?
