I've been thinking of that silly eighties show, "Simon and Simon". They were unlikely brothers who ran a detective agency. I think. Do any of you remember it? Gerald McRaney (guy in the hat) married Delta Burke.
She was on another wonderful/awful eighties show called "Designing Women". She's the one in fuschia. If I recall correctly, the premise of the show was that these four women ran an interior design business and were always up to (what else?) crazy hijinks. Man---that decade really turned out some schmaltzy television, huh?
But I digress....
I keep thinking of a particularly bad episode of Simon and Simon where they were investigating a murder at a zoo. Or a wildlife center. Or somewhere like that with animals. Anyhoo---there was a particularly smart chimpanzee who helped them solve the crime. (I know.) The animal had some toy like a speak and spell where he could press buttons and it would say a word. The chimpanzee kept pushing 'buzzard' and then 'leopard'. They were able to deduce (of course!) that the chimp was trying to say 'embezzler'. So they figured out some zoo person was stealing and killed the other zoo person to cover up the money ring. 'Cause things like that happned a lot in the 1980s.
Isn't that ridiculous?
Then that got me thinking about that poor woman who was mutilated by the rampant angry chimp a few months back. Did you know it was a retired 'actor chimp'? I wonder if it was the same one that was on Simon and Simon.
Anyway....I hope my mind quits replaying that stupid show in my head now that I've purged the thought. Isn't it annoying how you can get something stuck in your brain?
